Ukrainian Commander Calls for Drone Expansion and Tactical Innovation Short Article:

Oleksandr Pivnenko, commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, speaks during an interview with Reuters, amid Russia's attack on Ukraine, in Kyiv, Ukraine November 13, 2025.

A senior Ukrainian commander has emphasized the urgent need for more drones and improved battlefield tactics as the war with Russia continues to evolve. Speaking on the challenges faced by Ukrainian forces, the commander highlighted that drones have become a critical asset in modern warfare, providing reconnaissance, precision strikes, and a technological edge against a larger adversary.

While Ukraine has made significant progress in integrating drone technology into its operations, shortages remain a pressing issue. The commander stressed that expanding drone production and refining tactical approaches are essential to counter Russia’s numerical advantage and sustain long-term defense efforts.

Military analysts note that Ukraine’s reliance on drones reflects a broader shift in warfare, where technology and adaptability often outweigh sheer manpower. The call for innovation underscores Kyiv’s determination to maintain resilience and effectiveness on the battlefield.
