Channel Tunnel Power Failure Halts All Eurostar Services

Passengers use phones after a Eurostar spkesperson said they were suspending its cross-Channel train services to and from London at St. Pancras International station.

Eurostar temporarily suspended all cross‑Channel train services on Tuesday after a major power supply failure in the Channel Tunnel brought travel to a standstill. The disruption affected routes between London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and other key European destinations during one of the busiest travel periods of the winter season.

According to the operator, an overhead power issue inside the tunnel caused a shuttle train to stop, forcing authorities to close the route entirely while engineers worked to resolve the fault. With no clear estimate for when services would resume, Eurostar urged passengers to postpone their journeys and avoid travelling to stations unless they already held a valid ticket.

The suspension left thousands of travellers facing delays, cancellations, and overcrowded terminals as they sought alternative routes. Rail operators across the region offered limited support options, but capacity remained strained due to holiday demand.

Eurostar has stated that updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available, but significant disruption is expected until the power issue is fully resolved.
