  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are golden but centers are still soft.
  9. Cool on the sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Tips

  • Texture balance: The mix of brown and white sugar gives chewiness plus crisp edges.
  • Butter temperature: Softened butter (not melted) ensures the cookies hold their shape.
  • Resting dough: Optional, but chilling for 30 minutes can enhance flavor and thickness.
