Storm Surge: Southern Ontario Braces for Heavy Snow After Deep Freeze
Southern Ontario is gearing up for another blast of winter weather as a significant snowfall event moves into the region. The storm arrives just after an intense cold snap swept across Canada, forcing airlines to cancel numerous flights and leaving travellers scrambling to rebook.
Meteorologists expect the system to bring heavy snow, strong winds, and reduced visibility, creating challenging travel conditions throughout the region. Some areas could see 10–30 centimetres of accumulation, with the potential for even higher totals in localized bands.
The recent extreme cold, which pushed wind chills to dangerous levels, had already strained transportation networks. Major airports struggled to maintain operations as equipment froze and safety concerns mounted, resulting in widespread delays and cancellations.
With the new storm approaching, officials are urging residents to prepare for difficult road conditions and possible disruptions. The combination of fresh snowfall, gusty winds, and lingering cold means southern Ontario is in for a demanding stretch of winter weather.
