GTA Police Face Further Suspensions as Project South Probe Widens

The ongoing Project South corruption investigation has led to the suspension of additional police officers across the Greater Toronto Area, marking another significant development in a probe that has already shaken public confidence in local law enforcement.

According to police officials, the newly suspended officers are alleged to have engaged in misconduct connected to the broader investigation, which focuses on corruption, organized crime links, and breaches of trust within certain units. While specific details have not yet been released, authorities confirmed that the suspensions are part of an expanding internal review.

Project South, launched several years ago, has resulted in multiple arrests, charges, and disciplinary actions. The latest suspensions suggest that investigators are continuing to uncover new information, prompting further scrutiny of officer conduct.

Police leadership emphasized that the actions taken reflect a commitment to transparency and accountability. They also noted that the majority of officers continue to serve with integrity, and that rooting out corruption remains essential to maintaining public trust.

As the investigation continues, more updates are expected in the coming weeks.
