Massive Airstrike Plunges Ukrainian Cities Into Darkness

A large-scale Russian air attack has left tens of thousands of Ukrainians without power, heat, or water after missiles and drones struck critical energy infrastructure across multiple regions. The overnight barrage targeted major cities including Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa, overwhelming repair crews and deepening the country’s winter hardships.

In the capital, thousands of apartment buildings temporarily lost heating, and widespread electricity outages disrupted daily life. Local officials reported injuries and damage to residential areas as emergency teams worked through the night to contain fires and restore essential services.

The strike is part of a renewed campaign aimed at crippling Ukraine’s energy grid during the coldest months of the year. With temperatures dropping and infrastructure repeatedly hit, many residents have turned to emergency shelters and backup heating points to stay warm.

Despite the scale of the attack, Ukrainian air defenses intercepted a significant portion of the incoming weapons, preventing even greater destruction. Repair crews continue to work around the clock to restore power and stabilize the grid as the country braces for further assaults.
