Canada's Rent Slide Is Finally Stalling — What It Means If You Rent or Rent Out

Published August 13, 2026 For nearly two years, "Canadian rents are falling" has been one of the safest headlines in personal finance. The August 2026 National Rent Report from Rentals.ca and Urbanation, released last week, suggests that streak may finally be running out of road — and the shift matters whether you're the one paying rent or the one collecting it. Rising Tensions as Drone Strike Hits Fuel Tank at Oman’s Duqm Port

A view of the Port of Duqm, Oman.

A drone attack struck a fuel tank at Oman’s strategic Duqm commercial port on Tuesday, causing limited damage but no casualties, according to multiple reports from Omani state media. Authorities confirmed that several unmanned aircraft targeted the port’s fuel storage facilities, with one drone successfully hitting a tank. Emergency teams quickly contained the resulting fire, preventing broader disruption to port operations.

The incident marks the second drone-related strike on the port in just a few days, following an earlier attack over the weekend that injured one worker. The escalation comes amid heightened regional tensions, as Iran continues to retaliate against U.S.–Israeli military actions by targeting energy and maritime infrastructure across the Gulf. Neighboring countries have already felt the impact: Qatar temporarily halted liquefied natural gas production, and Saudi Arabia suspended operations at a major refinery.

Duqm port plays a significant logistical role in the region, serving both commercial shipping and military operations, including acting as a resupply hub for U.S. naval assets. Omani officials condemned the attack and emphasized that necessary measures are being taken to safeguard critical infrastructure as drone threats continue to rise across the Gulf.
