Rising Tensions as Trump Defends Decision to Strike Iran

                                            US President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump said he ordered U.S. forces to join Israel’s strike on Iran because he believed an Iranian attack on the United States was imminent. Speaking during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump explained that ongoing negotiations with Iranian officials had led him to conclude that Tehran was preparing to strike first.

Trump stated that his decision may have “forced [Israel’s] hand,” emphasizing that he viewed the situation as a race to act before Iran did. His remarks come amid conflicting accounts within the administration about how the conflict escalated, adding further uncertainty to an already volatile geopolitical moment.

The comments highlight the growing tension between the U.S. and Iran, as well as the challenges of diplomacy in a rapidly shifting security landscape. As officials continue to offer differing explanations, questions remain about the intelligence assessments and decision-making process that led to the strike.
