Senate Approves Stopgap Funding Bill to Prevent Government Shutdown

In a dramatic turn of events, the U.S. Senate passed a six-month funding bill just hours before a potential government shutdown. The bill, which faced significant opposition from Democrats, was approved with a 54-46 vote. The legislation now heads to President Donald Trump's desk for final approval. The funding measure, often referred to as a continuing resolution (CR), was a contentious issue, with Democrats criticizing it for lacking input from their party and for falling short on key priorities like healthcare and housing assistance. However, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer urged his colleagues to support the bill, emphasizing that a government shutdown would have far-reaching consequences. Canadian Business Tycoon Frank Stronach Faces Additional Sexual Assault Charges

Frank Stronach, the 91-year-old Canadian billionaire and auto industry magnate, is now facing eight additional criminal charges related to sexual assault. These charges come on top of the shocking allegations he was already facing.

Earlier this month, Stronach was charged with five sex offenses based on claims from three women. The incidents allegedly occurred as recently as last year and date back to 1980. However, investigators from the Peel Regional Police Special Victims Unit have identified additional victims, leading to the new charges. The latest accusations include attempted rape, indecent assault on a female, and six counts of sexual assault.

Through his lawyer, Stronach has denied both the new and previous allegations. Brian Greenspan, Stronach’s legal representative, stated that his client plans to vigorously defend himself against these untested claims dating back to 1977. Greenspan emphasized Stronach’s lifelong commitment to the betterment of the Canadian community and industry, as well as his advocacy for workers, small businesses, family farmers, and the Canadian economy.

Stronach was first arrested on June 7, and the previous charges included rape, indecent assault, forcible confinement, and sexual assault involving three different alleged victims across different time periods. The recent developments have added further complexity to this high-profile case, drawing attention to the legal proceedings surrounding the prominent business figure.

As the investigation continues, Stronach’s legal team will likely mount a robust defense, while the victims seek justice. The case serves as a reminder that no one is above the law, regardless of their status or wealth.
