Gaza Crisis Deepens as Israeli Strikes Kill 60 Amid Aid Shortages

Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 60 people across Gaza, intensifying the humanitarian crisis in the region. The strikes targeted residential areas, including a family home and a school-turned-shelter, leading to significant civilian casualties.  Despite mounting international pressure, Israel has allowed only minimal aid into Gaza, far below the necessary levels to address the growing humanitarian needs. UN agencies report that while some trucks carrying food and medical supplies have entered, the amount remains insufficient compared to the 600 trucks per day that were permitted during a previous ceasefire.  The ongoing conflict has displaced nearly 90% of Gaza’s population, with many facing dire shortages of food, medicine, and shelter. Heavy Clashes Erupt Between Israeli Troops and Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon

The United Nations has reported intensified clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants along the southern border of Lebanon, raising concerns of a broader conflict in the region. The violence comes amid heightened tensions following weeks of Israeli military operations in Gaza and increasing rocket fire from Hezbollah into northern Israel.

UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, confirmed the escalation, noting significant exchanges of artillery fire and aerial bombardments. Local sources report casualties on both sides, though exact figures remain unclear. Civilians in the area have been urged to evacuate as fears grow over the conflict spiraling out of control.

Israeli officials accuse Hezbollah of launching provocations aimed at opening a second front in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Hezbollah, however, claims its actions are in response to Israeli "aggressions" and in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

The United States has urged restraint, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasizing the importance of preventing a regional war. Meanwhile, humanitarian organizations have expressed alarm at the deteriorating conditions for civilians in both Gaza and Lebanon, where displacement and destruction are mounting.

As the situation develops, international efforts to mediate and de-escalate appear increasingly urgent to avoid further destabilization in the Middle East.
