Pakistan's Crackdown on Afghan Refugees: A Controversial Move

In recent weeks, Pakistan has intensified its efforts to arrest Afghan citizens residing in the country without proper documentation. This move has sparked significant controversy, with the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad accusing Pakistan of attempting to expel all Afghan refugees from its territory. The Afghan Embassy issued a strongly worded statement, condemning the short timeframe given by Pakistani authorities and the unilateral nature of their decision. The embassy claimed that Afghan nationals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been subjected to arrests, searches, and orders to leave the cities and relocate to other parts of Pakistan. Ceasefire Between Israel and Hamas Set to Begin Sunday Morning

In a significant development, Qatar announced that a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will come into effect at 8:30 a.m. (0630 GMT) on Sunday. This ceasefire aims to halt the 15-month-long conflict that has resulted in devastating consequences for both sides.

The agreement, brokered by mediators from the United States, Qatar, and Egypt, includes the release of 33 hostages held by Hamas in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. The first phase of the ceasefire will see the release of three female hostages on the first day, four on the seventh day, and the remaining 26 over the next five weeks.

Israeli troops will also withdraw to a buffer zone about a kilometer wide inside Gaza, allowing displaced Palestinians to return to their homes. The ceasefire is expected to bring much-needed humanitarian aid to the devastated region.

Despite the ceasefire, tensions remain high, with continued missile attacks from Yemen and warnings from Palestinian Islamic Jihad about potential disruptions to the hostage deal.

The international community is cautiously optimistic, hoping that this ceasefire will pave the way for a lasting peace in the region.
