Your daily horoscope: May 9, 2025

IF TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY A change of direction is a must this year as you have reached the end of your current journey and need a new challenge. Make a break with the past and make it one that cannot be reversed. Move forward fast and don’t look back. ARIES (March 21 - April 20): Someone you meet on your travels will catch your eye and maybe your heart as well. If it’s true that opposites attract you could find yourself getting close to someone whose charms are very different to your own – and remarkably the relationship will work. Ceasefire on Shaky Ground: Hamas Suspends Next Hostage Swap

Hamas announced on Monday that it will postpone the next scheduled release of Israeli hostages, accusing Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect for the past three weeks. According to Hamas, Israel’s failure to allow the timely return of Palestinians to northern Gaza, its continued military strikes across the territory, and restrictions on humanitarian aid have breached the terms of the fragile truce.

The move comes ahead of an anticipated exchange that would have freed three more Israeli hostages in return for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, as part of a three-phase deal brokered by US-led mediators. So far, five exchanges have taken place under the arrangement, but the latest dispute threatens to derail the process.

Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, denounced the decision as a “complete violation” of the ceasefire and has ordered the military to operate at the highest level of alert. Meanwhile, mediators and representatives from the Hostages and Missing Families Forum have expressed deep concern that any further deviations from the agreement could lead to a resumption of hostilities in the region.

As both sides continue to trade accusations, the international community watches closely, aware that the future of the ceasefire—and possibly a longer-term peace—hinges on renewed adherence to the deal’s obligations.
