Winter Storms Continue to Batter Southern Ontario and Quebec

As residents of southern Ontario and Quebec dig out from one winter storm, they are bracing for another powerful system set to hit the region. Environment Canada has issued winter storm warnings for Toronto and surrounding areas, forecasting 25 to 40 centimeters of snow. Similar conditions are expected in southwestern Ontario, the Ottawa area, and southern and central Quebec.

The rapidly accumulating snow is expected to make travel challenging, with strong winds and snow also forecasted for parts of Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Gusts could reach up to 90 kilometers per hour on Sunday.

Residents are advised to prepare for difficult travel conditions and to stay updated on local weather alerts. The storm is expected to bring heavy snowfall rates of 2-4 cm per hour in some areas, particularly in the Eastern Townships. The majority of the snow will end overnight Sunday, with flurries continuing into Monday.

As the region braces for this second storm, it is crucial for residents to have a plan in place and to check highway conditions before heading out.
