Your daily horoscope: May 9, 2025

IF TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY A change of direction is a must this year as you have reached the end of your current journey and need a new challenge. Make a break with the past and make it one that cannot be reversed. Move forward fast and don’t look back. ARIES (March 21 - April 20): Someone you meet on your travels will catch your eye and maybe your heart as well. If it’s true that opposites attract you could find yourself getting close to someone whose charms are very different to your own – and remarkably the relationship will work. Hostage Negotiations: A Crucial Step for Gaza Ceasefire Extension

Israel has emphasized the need for a new agreement on the release of hostages to extend the fragile ceasefire in Gaza. The truce, which began on January 19 with U.S., Qatari, and Egyptian mediation, has temporarily halted fighting. However, the initial 42-day agreement has expired, leaving both sides at an impasse over broader issues, including governance in Gaza and the future of Hamas.

Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that Israel is prepared to proceed to the next phase of the ceasefire, contingent on Hamas releasing more of the 59 hostages still held. Hamas, in turn, has expressed willingness to negotiate but insists on broader discussions that could lead to a permanent resolution, including the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

The ceasefire has provided some relief to civilians, with humanitarian aid entering Gaza during the truce. However, tensions remain high, with accusations of violations from both sides. The international community continues to push for progress, with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff expected to visit the region to facilitate further negotiations.

The outcome of these talks will determine whether the ceasefire can be extended, offering hope for a more lasting peace in the region.
