Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to hold his first meeting with his newly appointed cabinet this morning on Parliament Hill. This gathering marks the beginning of a new chapter in Canadian governance following a significant cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday.

Carney's new team consists of 28 full ministers and 10 secretaries of state, with half of the ministers being new to the front bench. The prime minister has emphasized a balance between fresh perspectives and experienced leadership as his government prepares to move forward with "urgency and determination".

Among the key priorities outlined by Carney are strengthening Canada-U.S. relations, building a unified Canadian economy, and advancing nation-building investments to position Canada as a leading force in the G7.

Parliament is set to resume on May 26, with Carney promising swift action on his government's commitments. As his cabinet convenes for the first time, all eyes will be on how this new team navigates the challenges ahead.
