Historic Ceasefire Agreement Between India and Pakistan Announced by Trump

In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire following a series of escalating military strikes. The agreement comes after intense negotiations mediated by the United States, aimed at de-escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.  

The conflict, which began with retaliatory strikes after a deadly attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir, saw both sides exchanging missile attacks on military installations. Trump praised both countries for their "common sense and great intelligence" in reaching the ceasefire.  

While the ceasefire is a promising step toward stability, both nations have emphasized that its success depends on mutual adherence. Indian officials stated their commitment to non-escalation, provided Pakistan reciprocates. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s leadership has indicated that further military action will be avoided if India refrains from additional strikes.  

The international community, including the G7 foreign ministers, has welcomed the ceasefire and urged both nations to engage in direct dialogue to ensure lasting peace.
