Europe Scorched by Record Heatwave: France and Italy Take Emergency Measures

As a blistering heatwave tightens its grip on Europe, countries are scrambling to protect citizens from soaring temperatures and mounting health risks. France has shuttered over 1,350 schools  and closed the top floor of the Eiffel Tower as temperatures surged past 40°C (104°F)  in several regions. Israel Intensifies Military Operation in Gaza Amid Hostage Crisis

Israel has launched a new military operation in Gaza, named Operation Gideon’s Chariots, aimed at increasing pressure on Hamas to release the remaining hostages. The offensive follows days of intense airstrikes that have resulted in significant casualties, with Gaza’s health ministry reporting hundreds of deaths.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to escalate military actions to dismantle Hamas, which has controlled Gaza for nearly two decades. The operation comes amid growing international concerns over the humanitarian impact, as aid groups warn of worsening shortages of essential supplies due to an ongoing blockade.

The renewed offensive has also sparked domestic tensions within Israel, with families of hostages urging the government to prioritize diplomatic negotiations over military action. Meanwhile, Hamas has called on the United States to intervene and pressure Israel into allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza.

As the conflict intensifies, global leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, are expected to address the situation in upcoming diplomatic discussions. The operation marks a critical moment in the ongoing war, with both sides standing firm on their positions.
