UK's Strategic Move: Britain Signals Possible Support for Israel Amid Iran Conflict

The United Kingdom has hinted at potential support for Israel in its ongoing conflict with Iran, though officials emphasize that recent military deployments are primarily precautionary. British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves stated on Sunday that additional military jets were sent to the Middle East to protect British bases and personnel. The escalation between Israel and Iran saw fresh attacks overnight, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warning that Iran would face intensified strikes in the coming days. Speaking to Sky News, Reeves called for de-escalation but acknowledged that Britain has previously assisted Israel in defending against missile attacks. "We have, in the past, supported Israel when there have been missiles coming in," she said, adding that the UK is deploying assets both for its own protection and potentially to support allies. Russia Escalates Conflict with Largest Drone Attack Following Peace Talks

Just days after the first direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in over three years, Moscow launched its largest drone assault of the war, killing a woman and injuring at least three others in Ukraine’s capital region.

Ukraine’s air force reported that 273 drones were deployed overnight, primarily targeting Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk. The attack surpassed the previous record of 267 drones, which occurred on the eve of the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The sustained bombardment led to nine hours of air raid warnings, with Ukrainian air defense units managing to intercept 88 drones. However, the scale of the attack left significant destruction, damaging residential buildings and infrastructure.

The timing of the assault has raised concerns about Russia’s commitment to peace efforts. The Istanbul peace talks, which lasted just 100 minutes, resulted in an agreement to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war but failed to secure a ceasefire.

U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday, as global leaders react to the latest escalation.

Ukraine has condemned the attack as an attempt to intimidate negotiators, with officials calling for stronger sanctions against Moscow. As the war continues, the world watches closely to see whether diplomatic efforts can prevent further bloodshed.
