Dalai Lama Asserts Sole Authority Over Reincarnation Amid China’s Claims

In a landmark declaration just days before his 90th birthday, the Dalai Lama has reaffirmed that the centuries-old Tibetan Buddhist institution will continue after his death—and that his reincarnation will be determined solely by the Gaden Phodrang Trust , a foundation he established. This move directly challenges China’s long-standing assertion that it holds the final say in selecting the next Dalai Lama. Speaking in a pre-recorded message during a religious gathering in Dharamshala, India, the exiled spiritual leader stated that no external political power, including China, has any authority  to interfere in the reincarnation process. U.S. Halts Some Missile Shipments to Ukraine Amid Stockpile Concerns

In a significant shift in its military support strategy, the United States has paused certain missile shipments to Ukraine due to critically low domestic stockpiles. The decision, confirmed by Pentagon officials, affects key munitions such as Patriot air defense interceptors, precision-guided 155 mm artillery shells, and Hellfire missiles—systems vital to Ukraine’s defense against ongoing Russian aerial assaults.

The halt comes after a Department of Defense review concluded that U.S. reserves had dipped below levels necessary to meet contingency plans. White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly stated the move was made “to put America’s interests first,” emphasizing the need to maintain U.S. military readiness.

The timing is critical: Russia recently launched one of its largest aerial offensives of the war, deploying hundreds of drones and missiles across Ukraine. Kyiv, already under strain, expressed disappointment, with Ukrainian officials warning that the pause could embolden Russian advances.

Despite the pause, discussions continue within NATO and among U.S. allies about alternative support mechanisms, including joint weapons production initiatives with Ukraine.

New Development: French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin held their first direct talks in over two years, reportedly discussing the Ukraine conflict and broader European security. Macron urged a ceasefire, while Putin blamed the West for prolonging the war. The diplomatic exchange signals a potential shift in international engagement on the crisis.
