Canada Considers Enhanced Patrols at U.S. Border

Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc announced that the Canadian government is contemplating giving additional powers to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to patrol the U.S. border. This move comes in response to recent threats from President-elect Donald Trump to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico over border security concerns. The RCMP and CBSA are also considering new equipment, such as drones and helicopters, to bolster their enforcement capabilities.

LeBlanc emphasized that these measures are not solely to appease the U.S. administration but are part of ongoing efforts to ensure border security. The discussions are still in the early stages, and no specific promises were made during recent meetings with Trump.
