Controversial Statue of Trump and Epstein Sparks Outrage in Washington, D.C.

A cyclist stops to take photos of a statue featuring President Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein dancing, titled "In Honor of Friendship Month," that appeared on the east end of the National Mall in Washington on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025.

A provocative statue depicting U.S. President Donald Trump and the late financier Jeffrey Epstein holding hands briefly appeared in Washington, D.C., before being swiftly removed.

The unauthorized installation, placed near a busy public area, drew immediate attention from passersby, many of whom stopped to take photos and share them online. Within hours, city officials intervened and had the sculpture taken down.

The artist behind the work has not yet come forward, but the piece has already ignited heated debate. Supporters of the installation argue it serves as a form of political protest and social commentary, while critics call it disrespectful and inflammatory.

This is not the first time guerrilla art has been used in the capital to make a political statement. Similar unsanctioned statues and installations have appeared in recent years, often sparking viral conversations about power, accountability, and public memory.

Whether viewed as art or provocation, the fleeting statue has once again highlighted the role of public spaces as battlegrounds for political expression.
