Canada’s dream run at the Women’s Rugby World Cup ended in heartbreak on Saturday as the No. 1–ranked England side powered to a 33–13 victory in front of a record crowd at Twickenham Stadium.

Canada struck first through winger Asia Hogan-Rochester, who crossed the line just five minutes into the match. But England quickly responded, capitalizing on Canadian errors and asserting dominance in the scrums. By halftime, the Red Roses had built a commanding 21–8 lead.

Despite a spirited second-half effort, including a second try from Hogan-Rochester, Canada could not close the gap. England’s Alex Matthews sealed the win with her second try of the match, securing the Red Roses’ third World Cup title.

For Canada, the silver medal marks their best finish since 2014, when they also fell to England in the final.
