A man holds a picture of Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, while people attend a funeral ceremony for the Iranian military commanders who were killed in strikes, in Tehran Iran’s Supreme Leader issued his first public remarks following the deaths of senior Iranian commanders, vowing that the country will “avenge the martyrs” and maintain the closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz until what he described as “justice” is served. His comments, delivered during a nationally broadcast address, underscore a sharp escalation in rhetoric at a moment of heightened regional tension. US, Gulf States Explore Interim Governance Plan for Post-War Gaza

The United States has held preliminary talks with Gulf Arab states on a potential interim administration for Gaza once the war ends, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee confirmed on Friday. The discussions have centered on a temporary governing structure led by Gulf states, with Washington possibly taking a supervisory role, while a permanent arrangement would be decided later.

Huckabee stressed that no agreement has been reached and that the idea has not been formally accepted by the U.S., Israel, or any other party. The talks come amid broad international consensus that Hamas, severely weakened by Israel’s military campaign, cannot remain in power.

The Palestinian Authority has expressed readiness to govern Gaza with international backing, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposes its involvement and rejects the creation of a Palestinian state — a condition set by the UAE for participating in any post-war plan. Netanyahu has instead insisted on Israel retaining overall security control alongside an Arab-led civilian administration, while some members of his coalition advocate annexation.

Hamas has signaled it will not govern after the war but refuses to disarm. Meanwhile, Israel’s military has intensified operations in Gaza City, prompting growing international condemnation over the humanitarian toll. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is also reportedly working on a separate post-war governance proposal.
