The move comes in response to heightened regional instability following a drone strike on Cyprus attributed to Iranian-made technology.

Macron confirmed that the frigate Languedoc would reach Cyprus imminently, serving as a deterrent after the recent attack. He also announced that the Charles de Gaulle and its accompanying strike group would be dispatched to reinforce security and support regional partners.
